whispers

Art by Julie Fain

De Jackson (WhimsyGizmo) here, and today, for our beloved Quadrille #24, let’s softly sneak in the word whisper. Or shout it. Noun it. Verb it. Slip it an extra letter or two to make it an adjective or adverb: whispered, whispery, whispering, whisperingly (bonus points if you can make that last one sound good, ever.) And you know I always love a well-placed hyphen, should you want to play around with it a little.

she danced in the falling rays

of moonlight

this wisp of a being

floating

it seemed to me

on silken wings

that lifted her up

in a spiral of grace

stirring a deep magic

in my bones

that called to me

whisperingly

whisperingly

whisp-er-ing-ly

Ohhhhhhhh. Yep. Bonus points happily given. And well deserved.
Love “spiral of grace” and “stirring deep magic”
And that visual is just too gorgeous. Love this, Paul.

I love the clever twist at the end, I presume twisting “whisperingly” into “whispering lie.”

    Fave:
    “that lifted her up
    in a spiral of grace
    stirring a deep magic”

Those spirals on her toes and wings make the painting all the more gorgeous. 🙂

Well…that got me thinking…honestly?..no…it was the word whisperingly being reduced to a whisper itself….but whispering lie…that gives me ideas. Thanks. The words came first and then I found the picture. Cool huh?

Such a clever use of the quadrille word at the end…the way you let the reader feel like it was fading out with your incorporation of italics, color and hyphens. Brilliant 🙂
