trees appear to
bow
as i walk in
the deep silence
my reverence
reflected
perhaps
or just the wind
which seems to answer
my breath
perhaps
as it falls
from the sky
through cedar
swooping hawk
fluting nature’s
song
there is a sense here
of the other
of called in beauty
of Anam Cara
ancestral whisper
echoes of time
soul tides
which
ebb
and flow
moss hums me
green medicine
as i tip-toe
through this sacred landscape
heart open
and growing
heart bursting
in measured beats
a symphony of soul
my tears are joy filled
gratitude’s crucible
has me gripped
and bound
for
soul
Notes:
According to John O’Donahue, poet, philosopher and one time Catholic priest…” You are joined in an ancient and eternal union with humanity that cuts across all barriers of time, convention, philosophy and definition. When you are blessed with an anam cara, the Irish believe, you have arrived at that most sacred place: home”
If you have the time this interview with John is well worth a listen.
I love this:
“moss hums me
green medicine”
perhaps
as it falls
from the sky
through cedar
swooping hawk
fluting nature’s
song
This is gorgeous!!❤️
a sense of the other..anam cara..love that.
I did enjoy his book. My favorite line here is swooping hawk
fluting nature’s
song…
Lovely to step along with you … and I’ll be back to listen to the interview, thank you.
“heart bursting / in measured beats”. These lines convey such peace. They remind me of my woods, of walking to the well, of climbing mango trees while laughing…
Love the way you conjure the silence here … we all need a bit of such moments .. it calls me to seek some peace
I love this, Paul, especially:
‘moss hums me
green medicine
as i tip-toe
through this sacred landscape’.
Imaginary drift. Thanks for the experience.
This is absolutely beautiful. You took me there, and that is how I feel in the forest. Love the reference to Anam Cara.
Beautifully serene.Love the plaintiff tones of the poem
as i tip-toe
through this sacred landscape
heart open
and growing
heart bursting
in measured beats
a symphony of soul
It gives a feeling of serenity and anticipation of something good!
Hank

my favourite verse
much love…
A walk through the woods can do wonders for your soul.
Anam Cara
..
A walk
through
the woods
can
do wonders
for
your soul.
Anam
Cara

This is so breezy, lush, and connected to all things… I love the reverent sentiments here.
This is lovely! Nature is the best medicine I agree.
