ing into sacred night
and dancing like an enchanted imp
who has found gold
how to be more than
you could ever dream you could be
how to stretch your skin
to contain a universe unfolding
how to open yourself
to that soft oyster like vulnerability
that tingles with every moment of touch
every caress of love
and grows as a lotus flower
to burst deep tears from your heart
how to remember the child
who knows, whom you can trust
and embrace with that innocent wisdom
falling like rain upon
once parched land
bringing fruits and bounty to feed your soul
sowing seeds of joy and play that shout
'I will not grow up nor old'
how to reach out with a w(hole) he(art)
to your brothers and sisters
who fall in the road and are heavied
with walls unseen like prison cells
and say here is my hand, not judging,
open and heart led, to pick you up
where you fell and to hold and comfort you
in the darkest of your nights
how to be human is the question of the age
more so now than ever was
and with all such things that have
depth and meaning to ponder it is the
simple truth will lead us home,
home to one another, home to Mother Earth
take care, be kind, tread softly:
for in the simple things ultimately lie the sublime.

A poem of compassion, the pathway out of our current situation. Beautifully expressed, Paul.
‘how to open yourself to that soft oyster like vulnerability that tingles with every moment of touch
every caress of love’… love this.. wonderfully deep and meditative write!❤️
How indeed…I can feel the meditative mood, the pondering of the mind while the drum beats to the inner heart. Thank you for this Sunday reflection…

This poem seems to be my life and mantra these days ans I try to figure how to as well…I especially loved:
‘how to be human is the question of the age
more so now than ever was’
I think it’s really simple really (like you write in the end)… but
it’s far from easy.
Loved the way you spelled into sacred night.
Beautifully written … the last stanza a masterpiece!
“take care, be kind, tread softly”
This is it!

A wonderful piece!
‘simple truth will lead us home,
home to one another, home to Mother Earth’
wise … stirring … impactful!
A softness and simplicity flow through your words. Beautiful!
Not a bad idea… well said.
