broken link

love descended upon my soul and scattered the walls

all came tumbling down around me and broken

unspoken thoughts could not fall from my self stitched lips

gripped by that need to protect the other from the dark meaning

keening from a cavernous place that needs to keep well hidden

sudden bursts of dangerous insanity sharp like knife cuts

but i could not hold back that other me who was bleeding

needing solace and so i turned upon myself to dissolve

resolved to float on a sea of unknowing in silence

Marian host the Fussy Little Forms prompt over in the Garden with a Chained Rhyme.

The basic premise is that the last syllable or word of each line is followed by a rhyme on the first word or syllable of the next line. LIKE A CHAIN, get it?

Dark words of the dark other self that lives within some of us Paul.
It took resolve to stitch those lips.
And well done on the form.

Such wonderful imagery in this poem, Paul, especially:
‘love descended upon my soul and scattered the walls
all came tumbling down around me and broken
unspoken thoughts could not fall from my self stitched lips’
    and
‘sudden bursts of dangerous insanity sharp like knife cuts’.

I’m guessing unrequited love, the most painful kind, but rather than maintain suspense (I read it several times) I am: resolved to float on a sea of unknowing in silence-beautiful words Paul.

  4. Jim says:

Nice thoughts of holding self in. Fine on the rhyme also. They’ say “some things are best left unspoken,” those “unspoken thoughts” of yours. Others bask in the “let it all hang out” air. There someplace ought to be a happen medium. But watch, some mediums are quacks.
