Do we stairs go up?
or do we go down?
In truth we do neither.
It is you who must travel,
and it is you who must
comprehend that which
falling apples sing.

This is a blog about my life. It's about much more than living with cancer. It's about reading books, cold water swimming, mothering, eating. All that stuff that people who don't have cancer do. If you're looking for my poems you need to go to fmmewritespoems.wordpress.com

What a conundrum! It’s daunting being sent off into the unknown… I think I need a ‘falling apple’ dictionary too. This is more like a quest! Would you be so merciful, sir…as to write us a pathway to enlightenment?

It is necessary to determine early those who conform to our thinking. This will be translated as potential support from them in future episodes! Very true Paul!

It all boils down to the individual. We can hear..We can see… but in the end, What does it all mean to me? Great write! Thanks for taking part in the prompt!
Such power even in the brevity of your verse!💖 I love the idea of stairs being neutral and the decision depending upon us. Beautifully executed.💖
Do we ever know… or does it matter?
The apple know the direction of down… we seem to have been a bit on similar thoughts here.
I LOVE those closing lines!
Not sure what falling apples sing (“whoop-sie!”?) but I loved the passive instruction of these stairs.
Newton would have an opinion on that 😉
A prefect rhythm for stairs, up or down. (K)
I was the falling apple, falling down an up escalator, a long one, in the London Subway (Tube) walkways. I agree, it is not the stairs that move (go up), it is we. Well, my escalator had the treads moving up even though I was falling down.

Oh to be an apple again starting out on life with a core full of babies to spread about the countryside!
I love the perspective of this poem, Paul, and the lines:
‘…it is you who must
comprehend that which
falling apples sing’.
A Newtonian conundrum..
we must learn the lessons falling apples sing – astounding – gorgeous word play and metaphor! cheers Paul!
There are several things this makes me think of. Pride before a fall, we live we die, and the choices we make are the ones we live with. Wonderful work
I like the puzzle this presents.
i enjoyed your poem.
