wails

“Who hears the fishes when they cry?”

Henry David Thoreau

old language, secret to you

now becomes secret to us

as sonar clips bounce off

plastic, diffract through oil

create confusion and chaos

the sea is not ours and no-one

including us can hear these cries

submission for Real Toads ‘Voice of Another’ prompt with Sherry and my NaPoWriMo for the day cos I’m hanging with the Toads innit.

I think of Prince’s “when doves cry” when I read the title. Unfortunately we humans are the cruelest of the species. We do not listen when we cause pain to other humans. why should we listen to mere animals?
