five knocked upon my door today
enquiring as to the state of things
poetically speaking
i told him he was the beginning
of the end
so he left
my next encounter is likely to be four-
midable given his propensity
towards in the box thinking
he’s such a square
i will dispense with him
in order to prepare for the arrival
of the three musketeers of poetry
rhyme, scheme and meter
i will tarry a while
with these old friends
and wear me a smile
before it all ends
with a visit from someone
you know who
friend of duality
the number two
he will bring with him a dance
of the
yin and the yang
above and below
good and evil
tales of old
and we will chat until
day turns to night
when he will dissapear
in a puff of smoke
as unity enters his
consciousness and he realises
all is one
Day 26 of NaPoWriMo…this day and four more make FIVE….Funny that 😉
Hanging as I have all month with The Toads
Countdown lifts me up. The end is in sight!
Such a clever countdown, Paul! We’ll miss it when it’s gone – until next year! I love the ‘three musketeers of poetry / rhyme, scheme and meter’!
And then there were none. I like this dance through the last days of 30 in 30:-)
A very creative poem!! I loved all those people who come to be in your poem!
Loved the ending: the realization that all is one.
Such a brilliant countdown, Paul!💜 I daresay we’ll miss April when it’s gone 😉
This is so cool!
Hiya Paul! Congrats on being the first one to catch onto the 5 days left and hence that was the number of our list. I loved how you chose to personify each poem that you will write on the remaining days. I also think you make some very smart choices in the how you broke up your lines. The shortness of them makes the poem stand out even more.
For instance:
“i told him he was the beginning
of the end
so he left”
See, what you did there? For me, this is so much more effective than if you had written:
“i told him he was the beginning
of the end so he left”
Thanks for posting and Viva La!
This was a treat to read…the countdown was marvellous! Loved this bit “….the number two
he will bring with him a dance of the yin and the yang….”. Each number has something unique in its character. Well done!
Love this countdown… I look so forward to bring you the final prompt… you are so close.
I like this very clever countdown. And all the folks that came to your door.
This is clever, delightful and so unique! Well done! Loved it all.
Oh this is sooo good. Enjoyed
Much🌼love
Fun, Paul. When do you sleep? Glad you’re hanging in there on the NaPo. I think I will make it also.
…
Bravo!
I wish I had this conception – and the wherewithal to execute so fine a piece after a month of heavy writing. Of all of us, you have shown us how it is done, Paul… with aplomb and unwearied spirit. It has been a pleasure.
unwearied spirit? if only you knew Kerry 😉
Your poem just doubled the light in my day.
A factor in making my blues go away.
And yes, you divided your lines with great skill,
You multiplied rhythm and it was just brill!
I’d like to return here, when you’ve added more.
I am an exponent of blogging, for sure.
Cos while just a fraction of blog posts are rhymes,
This one’s a math one and that’s just sublime!
