For those who would like to try to brave the challenge of writing one using all the words we’ve offered so far for Quadrille, here they are:
dance, lull, bubble, grin, melt, shimmer, twist, skip, green, breeze, spill, rose, journey, jar, leaves, open, shadow, cloud, spark, cue, breath(e), scar, curl, whisper, dawn, ghost, giggle, spring, balloon, drizzle, still, echo, sound, storm, pepper.
pepper storm ghost(s) cue bubble-spill(s) upon open green(s)
giggle-drizzle(s) shimmer breez(y) still(ness)
leaving me twist(ed) (a)jar
dawn’s journey rose to curl a spring of whisper(ing) echoes
i grin
skip that lull
dance
breath(e) scar(red) and shadow(ed)-sound
melt clouded balloon sparks alone
This is my favorite part: “(ed) (a)jar” … eat a jar, eat ajar, aid ajar, Etta [James] jar
I also like the image of someone “giggle drizzling” on a golf course. I’m not sure if that’s laughing so hard you drool, pee, or …
36 words, so far, a real challenge to bring cohesion to the quadrille, though I love the staccato-splatter style of this one. I dig those /pepper storm ghosts/ for sure.
Whew! That is amazing!
Oh, this Qaudrille with all the words is buzzing and popping, Paul! Only eight ore words to go until you hit the 44 jackpot!
Glenn used the word I was looking for: staccato. Since ghost was one of the words, it seems as though many who use all of the words come up with something a bit eerie.
I think I like this concept of giggle-drizzle…is it when you laugh so hard you spill your pint all down your shirt?
Love the end… I love to dance.
Whistles!!❤️
Wow, specially this:
giggle-drizzle(s) shimmer breez(y) still(ness)
Ha! Your poem gives me the good E.E. Cummings vibes. Love this: “Dawns journey rose to curl a spring of whispering echoes.”
An excellent job using the words and I would love to dance..
That first line is a winner Paul!!!
Interesting phrasing, and my favourite is
“giggle-drizzle(s) shimmer breez(y) still(ness)”
much love…
You made it work very well!
My favorite line: “dawn’s journey rose to curl a spring of whisper(ing) echoes”
I admire a poet who puts words to work and has fun with it.
Pepper storm!!!
I’m left with a breath(less) feeling, the piece so quick with words bubbling over, erupting even, a volcano of a Q!
